Jim, How do you do it?

Eastern Subterranean Termites reside in the soil. We strategically install termite monitors in areas of your property that are vulnerable to infestation. Once we establish feeding at the monitoring stations a low risk, environmentally sound bait technology is inserted into the station. Employing low risk bait applications eliminate the possibility of water contamination, pesticide runoff, drift, and spills! Applying bait only when feeding is established enables us to target our treatment areas so less product is installed in the soil. How is that for a GREENER approach? In fact, one of the products we use, Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System, by DowAgrosciences, was a recipient of a Presidential Green Award! Jim, what do the monitors look like?

Most are green or black and look much like a small disc. We place them in planting beds and, in most instances, they are discrete because they are flush to the ground. Monitors are examined and replaced during regularly scheduled visits. They can only be opened with a special access key.

How does the program work?

We install the system, conduct regular examinations to identify early stages of feeding and install bait in hot monitors until the colony is eliminated. We then re-install monitoring devices to intercept and detect future infestations. The program is renewable annually and traditionally transfers to subsequent property owners. It is a must have for areas with a history of high termite pressure.

What else can eat my house or place of business?

Carpenter Ants do not eat, but excavate wood that is wet to harbor their young brood! Damage is normally limited to what is wet and our expert technicians can help you identify the source. Once the colony is identified our treatment programs will eradicate the problem in the most eco-smart fashion. A complete inspection of your structure will reveal all vulnerable areas. Carpenter Bees are an interesting group. They drill perfectly round holes under your eves, decking and siding. Two generations per year typically show themselves in March and September. Reducing the amount of sunlight an infested area receives is a good way to suppress Carpenter Bee activity. Painting or staining the infested wood also can work. It is common for wood peckers to seek out Carpenter Bee holes and attempt to eat the egg chambers inside wooded hideouts! Our expert technicians can treat the holes killing eggs and active Carpenter Bees.

 

Wood destroying beetles come in many shapes and sizes. They traditionally infest homes that have old structural timbers which have not been kiln dried. Exit holes are traditionally observed in the wood joists and our expert technicians will be able to identify if they are active or not. We use eco-friendly Borate treatments to control these creatures. Sometimes, in rare instances, we may need to bring in a fumigation team.
